The board of TruckSafe, a not-for-profit trucking safety management system, has elected Graham Emery to the role of Vice Chair of the scheme.
TruckSafe is an industry focused Chain of Responsibility (CoR) safety management system – SMS – that is aimed at improving the safety and professionalism of trucking operators across Australia and, under licence, New Zealand.
It is owned by the Australian Trucking Association and is the first and only industry-led CoR SMS of its kind, being established in 1996 in response to government concerns over what the road transport industry was doing about improving safety.
TruckSafe Chair, Paul Fellows, noted Graham Emery has been a member of the TruckSafe board since 2015.
“Graham has helped lead TruckSafe’s evolution from a standards-based accreditation scheme to the best practice safety management system that it is today,” Fellows said.
“Graham’s election is testament to his experience, outstanding contribution and wise counsel.”
Emery said it was humbling to be nominated and subsequently elected as Vice Chair.
“The board is made up of industry professionals who give freely of their time to improve safety within the transport industry. It is a pleasure to sit alongside such a group of committed people,” he said.
“TruckSafe is a safety management scheme that all operators, large and small, should give serious consideration to joining.”
In addition to his role on the TruckSafe board, Emery is the Group Fleet and Maintenance Manager at Martin’s Stock H aulage, a leading transport company in regional and rural Australia.
Emery joined Martin’s Stock Haulage in 2004 and prior to that he worked as a trade qualified mechanic, in livestock industry regulation, and in truck and machinery sales.
