Tri, Tri and Tri Again

It is one of the many things in which Australia leads the world, the tri-drive. Our remote areas, and their public roads have a large population of tri-drive prime movers, in world terms. Here is the latest first to hit the road, this time in the Pilbara. Fusion Contracting is now running this  214 tonne GCM rated Scania with twin steer and tri-drive pulling a quad axle super quad carting Iron Ore. With a payload of 150 tonnes being delivered to the Port Hedland, Utah Point facilities.

Tri-drives are also needed to deliver the massive equipment out to the mine sites. Here we see a Tri-drive Mack Titan on the Great Northern Highway in WA, carting a Caterpillar 785C dump truck:

Here’s some older footage of Heavy Haulage Australia’s Tri-drive Kenworth K108, “Rumour Mill”, hauling trusses up the Great Northern Highway in WA towards Port Hedland:

Here’s another Mack Titan Tri-drive getting a helping hand from a tandem drive Kenworth:

Going back in time, here is a Kenworth tri-drive with a load carrying 10×6 prime mover working for the Giacci operation in Port Hedland (now Qube Logistics)
