At the Australian trucking industry’s top technical night, two of its most outstanding technical contributors received well deserved awards. At the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner in Melbourne, the social event which forms part of the Australian Trucking Association’s 2018 Technology and Maintenance Conference, the Craig Roseneder and the ATA Technical Achievement Awards were announced and presented.

The winner of the Craig Roseneder Award, an honour recognising technical and maintenance excellence in the workshop, was Tony Wright from Divall’s Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage in Goulburn, NSW.

The 2018 Castrol Vecton Industry Achievement Award, an accolade that recognises technical innovation and achievement within the Australian trucking industry was picked up by Trevor Dickson from Paccar Parts Australia. Working with Paccar for the past 37 years, Trevor told Diesel news he has attended every single TMC since they started in the mid-nineties. The citation remarked on his commitment to improving industry safety and meeting the needs of service people and customers.

“As an industry, we are very fortunate to have such committed, skilled professionals going the extra mile,” said Geoff Crouch, ATA Chair. “Our judging panel received an unprecedented number of nominations for the Craig Roeneder Award. I would like to thank the panel and its chair Trevor Martyn for taking the time to carefully pore over each nomination in deciding this year’s deserving winner.”

“Tony has been influential in the modernisation of workshop equipment and cost saving measures and is recognised by industry peers as a ‘book of knowledge’, having mentored and managed more than 20 apprentices throughout his career.”

Tony will be sent on an all-expenses paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, to attend the US Technology and Maintenance Council’s 2019 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition.

“Trevor is passionate about the transport industry and has a keen interest in new technologies and their applications,” said Geoff. “He is well-known in the industry, having been actively involved with TMC since it first began in 1996 and as a member of the program committee. The event would not be the same without his commitment and involvement.

“I congratulate Tony and Trevor, our award finalists and all the unsung heroes in the industry who work hard every day to ensure our industry remain safe, professional and viable.”
