With under a week to go the Brisbane Truck Show is shaping up to be a cracker of an event with many exhibitors releasing innovative new inventions aimed at helping Australia become one of the most productive countries in the world.
The Premier of Queensland the Hon. Campbell Newman MP, said he is looking forward to engaging with the Queensland Transport Industry and officially opening the 2013 Brisbane Truck Show held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from May 16-19.
“I look forward to opening the Brisbane Truck Show and show my support for an industry that plays such a vital role in keeping Queensland moving,” Premier Newman said.
CVIAQ CEO Brett Wright said he welcomed the Premier to what can only be described as the premier transport event in Australia.
“We welcome our Premier of Queensland to the Brisbane Truck Show and look forward to him meeting with our industry leaders when he is attending the Official Opening Breakfast function. We are sure it will be a great introduction to the industry,” he said.
The Premier will join function host and Show Ambassador, former rugby league champion, Shane Webcke and the Brisbane Truck Show’s Platinum Show Partner BP Australia and close to 300 invited dignitaries, industry guests and exhibitors at the breakfast function.
Getting the word out
Brett said the Brisbane Truck Show team has ramped up its media presence with billboards and posters circulated across Brisbane combining with a digital campaign on mainstream television, radio and through social media.
“The digital campaign is in full swing with radio and television ads aired across Queensland and New South Wales to coincide with the extensive print media campaign that has been running for the last few months,” he said.
First for the Show
This year the Brisbane Truck Show will hold its inaugural People’s Choice Award for the Best Presented Truck at the Show and polling will be done exclusively through the Brisbane Truck Show Facebook site.
Brett said the Brisbane Truck Show has had a keen following on Facebook and he expects many more people to follow the Show to have a vote and keep up with what’s happening at the Show. Visitors will be able to cast a vote on their smart phones or tablets as they walk around the Brisbane Truck Show.
Big prizes on offer
To add to the fun of the event the highly-popular Brisbane Truck Show ‘Passport Competition’ is on again and gives show visitors a chance to win some amazing prizes each and every day of the event.
The two major prizes on offer are a trip for two to Vanuatu and Sidchrome SCMT50260 Premium 10 Drawer Top Chest and Premium 7 Drawer Roller Cabinet.
Every day of the Brisbane Truck Show people will be able to win an Engel fridge and a Vision Drive camera unit.

Brett said there will be a comprehensive Career Centre in operation throughout the four days of the Show for anyone looking to get into transport and engineering as a career. Some of the most talented heavy vehicle engineers will also be showcasing their talent every day at the Brisbane Truck Show in heats of the Apprentice Challenge hosted by Shane Webcke.“Our Apprentice Challenge competition is always a crowd pleaser and shows off the talent of the people in this industry,” Brett said.
