Scania Australia welcomes new Sales Director, Martin Toomey

Martin Toomey has joined Scania Australia in the revived role of Sales Director across all divisions of the business; Truck, Bus and Engines.

For the past 8 years the company has operated a structure whereby the Managing Director also held the role of Sales Director. Following the return to the UK of former Managing Director, Roger McCarthy, and the appointment of Mikael Jansson as the company’s new Managing Director, Martin Toomey has been appointed to the sales role with immediate effect.

Martin has 17 years of industry experience, working for multinational component suppliers at General Manger level, both locally and across Asia.

“I am excited to be joining Scania at this stage in the company’s history,” Martin said.

“Over the past few years, Scania’s rise under Roger McCarthy’s leadership has been resolute and admirable.

“Scania is evolving its hardware and software products and services into a new paradigm, whereby we will increasingly play the role of an insightful business partner to our customers, offering them solutions tailored to their exact needs.

“We will be looking to bring many more customers to the Scania family, as well as to expand the scope of our offer to our existing customers, in order to facilitate their journey to greater profitability.

“Given the high degree of localisation we are able to add to specialist applications for customers, Scania Australia could become the global benchmark within the company for specialised and high productivity vehicle solutions.

“The lessons we learn in this market, given our arduous operating and far-reaching compliance environment, can benefit other markets in the Scania world,” he said.
