Mercedes Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd has issued a recall notice for its Mitsubishi Fuso Euro 5 Heavy FP54 trucks in order to replace the fuel tank.
The recall affects trucks built between September 14, 2011 and September 7, 2012.
Eleven vehicles have been targeted with potential issue of fuel tank securing straps which may have been over-tightened during production. If a vehicle is affected this may result in damage to the fuel tanks.
If the straps are too tight this may cause fuel leakage resulting in a hazard to other road users, and in the worst case scenario, cause a fire.
A letter is being sent to affected owners. For those affected the fuel tank will be replaced and the repairs will be carried out free of charge.
