Qube General Manager – South West Daniel Mainstone praised the opportunity to showcase part of the business to the engaged students and involve them in the design of the new trailers.
“Our team had the pleasure of hosting local primary school students for an interactive road safety session,” Mainstone writes. “The students were engaged, curious and full of great questions.
“We also unveiled the newly designed trailers from our student competition – soon to be seen on roads across the South West, on the world’s first heavy haulage electric road train (150t GCM).
“A fantastic opportunity to educate and inspire young minds while showcasing innovation in sustainable transport.”
Qube has partnered with Janus Electric on the implementation of multiple electric heavy vehicles, most recently collaborating on the conversion of a Volvo truck that transports lithium from a mine in Bunbury into the Port of Bunbury.
The pair have also previously collaborated with OZ Minerals to trial the world’s first electric triple road train, which came in the form of a converted Volvo FH16 8×6 prime mover in South Australia in 2023.
“We are thrilled to announce the operation of Western Australia’s very first electric road train, marking a significant milestone in sustainable transportation,” Janus Electric said in 2024.
“This innovative Qube battery electric road train not only stands as a testament to technological advancement, but also showcases the incredible potential of eco-friendly logistics.
“The quiet operation of this electric road train is a game-changer, reducing noise pollution and environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency with zero emissions.
“It’s an honour to collaborate with great customers like Qube, who share our vision for a sustainable future.”
