New Truck Dealership Opening Its Doors

Daimler is expanding its reach to the Illawarra, with a new truck dealership opening its doors in Wollongong on New South Wales’ south coast.

Daimler Trucks South Coast will be operated by the team behind STM Trucks and Machinery, which currently operates an award-winning Fuso dealership at Smeaton Grange in Sydney’s south.

The new Daimler Trucks South Coast dealership will open in August and initially sell and support Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Freightliner before it adds Fuso to its range on January 1, 2025.

It will be based at an existing facility in Unanderra before moving to a custom commercial dealership facility that is expected to be constructed and opened by early 2026.

The news has come after the announcement of a partnership between Daimler Truck and Volvo Group on a joint digital transformation project that will see the two companies remain as competitors in all other areas of business.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO Daniel Whitehead says he’s proud of the support that will be given by STM at the new facility.

“We are thrilled to have such a dedicated outfit as STM supporting our customers in the booming south coast region,” Whitehead says.

“The new facility is going to be remarkable, and we’d like to thank Michael and Ralph Gerace and Nick Papallo for their investment that will be warmly welcomed by our customers in the region.”

STM Trucks and Machinery has operated in New South Wales since the 1970s and has sold and serviced Fuso trucks since the 1980s.

It has been named Fuso Metro Dealer of the Year for the past two years, and Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Aftersales and Network Operations Vice President Antonio Briceño says the addition of the existing team is set to be a huge asset to the new dealership.

“The fact STM Trucks and machinery has won the Fuso Metro Dealer of the Year award for the last two years indicates what the customers of the south coast can look forward to,” Briceño says.

“Daimler Trucks South Coast will deliver the kind of customer support the STM Trucks and Machinery Team has been providing Fuso customers for forty plus years and we couldn’t be happier.”
