A longtime truck industry veteran has announced his, long expected, retirement this week. Lloyd Reeman is a well known figure around the trucking industry and currently works under the title of Iveco National Manager Key Accounts. Lloyd is calling time on his remarkable career, after over 46 years of service with International Harvester and Iveco Trucks.
Lloyd began working in the mailroom of International Harvester in the late 1960s before transitioning to sales roles where he tells us he developed an enduring passion for commercial vehicles and in particular, the locally developed and manufactured Acco.
During his time in the industry, Lloyd has witnessed many changes including the modernisation of trucks and trucking, as well as the gradual decline of Australia’s automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturing position.
“To have had the privilege to work with an Australian manufacturing company, while many competitors have come and gone, has been one of the most satisfying elements of my career,” said Lloyd, as part of the announcement. “I’ve always believed in company loyalty and that’s one of the main reasons why I stayed with the same brand.
“Along the journey, I’ve crossed paths with many great people and I’ve been inspired by the commitment, positive attitude and passion of many of my fellow colleagues, especially during more difficult times.
“With its broad product range, local manufacturing position and strong dealer network, Iveco is in a great position to become an even greater player in the Australian trucking industry.”
This is not the end for Lloyd as he will remain a familiar face around Iveco’s Dandenong facility as he will carry on with ongoing consulting work for the truck maker.
Iveco Managing Director, Michael Jonson publicly thanked Lloyd for his many years of service.
“Lloyd has been an outstanding ambassador for Iveco over a long period of time,” said Jonson. “He is much admired not only within the Iveco organisation, but throughout the broader trucking industry.
“It’s obviously very difficult to replace someone with his level of industry knowledge and customer rapport, so fortunately we’ve been able to maintain his ongoing services as a consultant. I foresee that Lloyd will stay involved in our PR campaigns, mentoring and customer-facing activities across many facets of the business.”
Lloyd will officially retire in late November, an announcement on his replacement is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
