Ministerial double team in March

Two major transport industry events in March will offer a chance to get a feel for the regulatory and legislative attitudes of government, both federally and from the states. Warren Truss, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development along with NSW Roads Minister, Duncan Gay are both booked in to make an appearance at the annual Livestock and Bulk Carriers Association Conference in Tamworth and the Australian Logistics Forum to be held at Randwick, Sydney.

The LBCA event takes place on March 6 to 8 at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC) and will see both Ministers engage in the open forum style discussions the association facilitates during its conferences.

“The Conference sessions will be Q&A style (no long presentations) with expert facilitation,” said the LBCA. “This will encourage an honest exchange of ideas between industry and government and develop specific priority actions. It also allows those involved to either sit back and listen or ask questions of key people.”

Two weeks later the pair will bookend the first day of the ALC Forum at Royal Randwick. Duncan Gay will provide the opening address at the transport and logistics conference on its first morning while Warren Truss will end the day when he delivers the keynote speech at the ALC Annual Dinner.

The Deputy Prime Minister can be expected to deal with the big picture and give an overview of the Coalition Government’s attitudes to issues, projects and initiatives which will effect the whole of the transport industry in his speech to the ALC. Meanwhile, he can probably expect a grilling on some the issues involved in the day to day operation of smaller trucking operations when he makes his appearance in Tamworth.
