The Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) safety accreditation program, TruckSafe, has announced the appointment of NatRoad chief executive Chris Melham to its board.
Claimed to be the trucking industry’s leading business and risk management organisation, TruckSafe is aimed at improving the safety and professionalism of trucking operators nationwide. Trucking operators accredited under TruckSafe are said to be twice as safe as non-accredited operators.
ATA chairman David Simon welcomed Chris Melham to the board.
“With his wide range of knowledge and experience, Chris will bring a valuable new perspective to the TruckSafe board,” Simon said. “I welcome his appointment, and look forward to seeing the results of his input into the TruckSafe program.”
For his part, Melham said he was keen to join the board to assist the continued improvement of the TruckSafe program.
“My first priority is to work with the board to position TruckSafe in its rightful place as a recognised accreditation program by the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulator,” he said. “I aim to ensure road transport operators across the country will have the opportunity to sign up to a national, uniform, road safety initiative.
“I look forward to promoting TruckSafe and its benefits to NatRoad members across the country, and continuing to contribute to improving safety on our roads.”
