MAN on Pole Position for DJR Team Penske | TRANSPORT NEWS

The Shell V-Power Racing Team brings together the expertise of Dick Johnson Racing and the proven entrepreneurial flair and ability of Roger Penske and Penske Corporation to create a major force in V8 racing. These legends in motorsport combined in 2014 to embark on a learning curve that has culminated today in two Ford Mustang V8 race cars to contest the 2019 season with drivers Fabian Coulthard and Scott McLaughlin.

Now a third element joins the team for the 2019 season in the form of a MAN TGX D38 26.580 XXL prime mover taking pole position as the lead vehicle for transporting the team to race meetings across Australia.

The spacious XXL cab is over 200mm taller than the XLX version and almost 500mm taller than the XL cab.  Powered by the MAN 15.2 litre, D38 six-cylinder diesel engine with two-stage turbocharging  and intercooling, it produces 427kW (580 hp)  at 1800 rpm. Peak torque of 2900Nm is rated at 930-1350 rpm.

The D38 engine range conforms to the latest global Euro 6 emissions legislation, leading the way for trucks in the Australian market to minimise harmful emissions and contribute to a greener, safer environment.

The driveline is completed by the latest 12-speed ZF TraXon automated transmission and the TGX includes an impressive list of safety features that includes lane departure assist, emergency stop signalling, adaptive cruise control, automatic low beam headlamps and wiper system with sensors, plus cornering lights. Also included is ESP (electronic stability programme), automatic braking system, ABS and anti-slip regulator, brake assistant and emergency brake assist.

In 2018 DJR Team Penske followed up its impressive team title from the previous season with its first driver’s championship. The results on track revealed one of the most productive campaigns in recent memory with 10 race wins, 13 pole positions and 22 podium results across the No. 12 and No. 17 Shell V-Power Ford Falcons teams. The final result for 2018 saw Scott McLaughlin crowned the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Champion.

With the commissioning of the new MAN TGX D38 6×4 prime mover the DJR Team Penske race challenge for 2019 is ready to roll to compete in all rounds of the 2019 championship.
