Andrew Travers is an owner operator within his family’s business, Travers Transport, from Springsure QLD, after making the leap to purchase his own truck in 2015.
Although PowerTorque published the winner of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland Young Person in Transport Award a couple of weeks ago, we thought it would be great to celebrate all of the nominees for this award. This week it’s Andrew.
A qualified electrician who completed his electrical apprenticeship in 2010, Andrew is now a second-generation livestock truck driver with his family’s business, after making the leap to purchase his own truck. His clients regard him as a professional operator, and speak very highly of his livestock handling skills and the great care he takes with their consignments.
Throughout his career, Andrew has continued to expand his knowledge of both the livestock industry and transport industry at any chance he gets. He has taken a keen interest in the mechanical and fitting aspect of the job and has responsibility for the maintenance of the trucks and trailers within the Travers fleet.
A keen rugby league fan, Andrewis also a dedicated and loving husband and father of three young children, who takes great pride in all aspects of his life, always punctual within the work environment and demonstrating professionalism in all elements of his work.
Presenting himself neatly and conducting himself in a professional manner with colleagues and customers, with an excellent work ethic toward all components of his job including, maintenance, customer liaising and transport.
He always puts the livestock first and organises his trips to comply both with his logbook as well as the livestock he is carting. He is very patient with livestock and shows great natural cattle sense, especially with troublesome cattle.
Andrew also strives to expand his knowledge and understanding of all areas of the industry, from handling the cattle, to driving his vehicle and maintaining his truck and trailers.
Having completed his electrical apprenticeship after school, Andrew has gone on to advance his knowledge of the mechanics and fitting aspects of his job through working with qualified tradespersons who work on the trucks.
