Glenn “Yogi” Kendall of Kendall Trucking runs a Kenworth T900 from his home base of Katanning in Western Australia to just about anywhere the work takes him. Specialising in carting agricultural equipment such as headers, his T900 is coupled to a Barker drop-deck extendable widener.
Readers familiar with the Outback Truckers TV Show would recognise Yogi for his regular appearances on the small screen, where his sense of humour is as obvious as his meticulous approach to how he and his wife Amanda run their transport business.
PowerTorque caught up with Yogi at the Cocklebiddy Roadhouse on the road across from the West out of Perth, where we shared a coffee and a few laughs about the industry before we headed off east to Sydney and he went west towards home.
“I bought the truck second hand after finding it in a shed about two hours from home. It’s a ’95 model T900, which started life with a Cummins N14 red head at 435 hp that was subsequently upgraded to 525 hp,” said Yogi.
“According to its history, it was tricked up in Brisbane by a previous owner with the work done either by Shane Parnell or Les Hart Transport. It looks sharp on the outside, but it’s the interior that has had some love put into it and is a credit to those that completed the work.
