Zero carbon solution provider, Janus Electric, has appointed Ben Hutt as its new CEO and Managing Director.
The Sydney-based company seeks to reimagine commercial road transport with breakthrough technology that harnesses existing electrical infrastructure to deliver a 100 per carbon-zero solution.
“Our commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable world has led us to create an innovative system that electrifies Class 8 Prime Movers, setting a new standard for eco-friendly transport,” the company says on its website.
Publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange since 21 May 2025, Janus Electric’s advanced exchangeable battery system powers electric heavy trucks.
The company boasts that, in four minutes, a vehicle’s battery can be swapped at one of our Janus Electric Charge & Change Stations, which can be powered by renewable sources like solar and wind.

Hutt has over a decade of experience as a CEO and Managing Director of a range of companies, with his most recent corporate roles being a Venture Architect at Triniti Ventures, which was preceded by his role as General Manager of the Intellihub Group.
“The decarbonisation of heavy transport is one of the most critical—and difficult—challenges in the energy transition,” Hutt said of his new role on his LinkedIn page.
“While passenger EVs are becoming mainstream, heavy haulage has remained a hard-to-abate sector due to charging downtime and limited range.
“Janus Electric is changing that. By converting existing diesel trucks to electric and utilizing exchangeable battery technology, we can keep fleets moving without the wait.”
Hutt describes himself as an entrepreneur passionate about scaling technology businesses that solve critical global challenges, with a background involving building and exiting high-growth tech companies (Search Party, IPO exit), corporate strategy at Macquarie Group, and deep operational leadership.
He said that at Janus Electric “we are solving one of the hardest problems in the energy transition: decarbonising the heavy transport industry through exchangeable battery technology”.
Hutt added that after working with Evergen and the Intellihub Group, he was “excited to get back into the driver’s seat of a listed company with such immense potential”.
“I look forward to working with the Board and the team to scale this technology and deliver real value for our shareholders and the planet,” said Hutt.
