O’Phee Trailers and The Brown & Hurley Group, Darra branch, both members of the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ) opened their doors to educational staff including career advisors, heads of department (HODs) and trainers from the Brisbane Metropolitan region and provided an informative morning showcasing career pathways available to school leavers and job seekers within their businesses.

Industry Tour - O'phee Trailers

Educational institutions involved on the day were Bremmer SHS, Redbank Plains SHS, Ipswich SHS, Holland Park SHS, Mitcheton SHS and the Queensland Catholic Education Commission.

The tour was the first of its kind to involve educational staff in positions that directly influence the career choices students make. CVIAQ CEO, Brett Wright strongly supported the initiative as a means to “educate the educators” about the career options and opportunities the industry has to offer.

The host companies, a truck dealership and a trailer manufacturer proved to be the right mix in displaying the majority of career options the commercial vehicle industry has to offer. Educational staff were able to see activities involving many of the trades in the manufacturing and service and repair sectors as well as spare parts and sales operations.
