Hino has significantly enhanced its safety reputation with the standard fitment of a front under-run protection system (FUPS) on all on-highway versions of its 500 and 700 series trucks.
The FUPS bar is incorporated into the truck’s standard bumper and is included in all 500 series and 700 Series on-highway trucks from late 2011 production.
FUPS is already part of an extensive safety package including dual driver airbags, ABS braking and vehicle stability control on wide cab versions of Hino’s new 300 series light- duty truck. However, with the standard inclusion of FUPS on its 500 and 700 series models, Hino claims to be the first manufacturer in Australia to offer a front under-run protection system across all three categories of trucks – light, medium and heavy-duty.
In the case of its medium and heavy-duty models, Hino’s FUPS is certified to both Australian Design Rule ADR 84 and European Safety Standard UN ECE-93.
According to Hino Australia product planning manager Daniel Petrovski, “The advanced crash structure of FUPS has been subjected to extensive testing by Hino engineers, including computer-aided design simulations and physical destructive testing at Hino’s safety centre in Japan.”
“Hino takes road safety very seriously, and we’re particularly committed to offering the best available safety features on our trucks when and where we can.”
