Hino is determined to make its light truck the safest on the market

Hino has lifted the bar for light duty trucks in Australia  announcing that all Hino 300 Series models will now be equipped with an integrated reversing camera at no extra charge. 110921b8605_2hr (1)

The free inclusion of the reversing camera from 1 July until the end of September 2013 complements the 300 Series’ raft of technologically advanced standard safety systems.

“Hino has always endeavoured to make sure its customers and the public are as safe as possible in and around our trucks,” said Hino Australia Manager – Marketing and Communications, Cris Gillespie.

“The 300 Series is the only light duty truck on sale in Australia to offer front under-run protection, a key factor in crash mitigation for accidents involving trucks and passenger vehicles,” he said.

“The 300 Series pioneered four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with anti-lock braking and vehicle stability control as standard fitment in the light-duty truck market, and also boasts dual SRS airbags as standard across the range.

“With the addition of a reversing camera at no extra charge, we’ve made sure the 300 Series is the safest possible choice at any speed, in any conditions and in any environment.”

The reversing camera sends a video feed to the Hino multimedia unit, which is fitted as standard across the entire Hino truck range.

In dark or low-visibility situations such as early mornings, night or inclement weather, the camera uses infrared technology to ensure drivers remain aware of their surroundings, regardless of the conditions.

Hino’s state-of-the-art multimedia unit features a large 6.1-inch high-definition touch-screen, DAB+ digital and conventional AM/FM radio receivers, CD and DVD player, USB and SD input, and is Bluetooth-enabled.

Up to three Hino rear-vision cameras can be installed and viewed on the screen in a variety of configurations, including viewing all three simultaneously in a split-screen arrangement.

Other safety systems available on Hino’s 300 Series include the Easy Start hill-start assist system fitted as standard to trucks equipped with manual transmission.

Automatic transmission is available on every 300 Series variant, ensuring safe, simple operation, which is especially important for drivers with a standard car licence.

High-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, fitted as standard on Hino’s 300 Series Hybrid trucks and optional on all other 300 Series models, produce more light than traditional headlights across a wider area.

According to Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) testing, the use of HID headlights resulted in improved driver visibility and safety during night and low-light driving.

“It’s imperative that we continually push for safer trucks – for our truck drivers and for everyone else on the road,” Mr Gillespie said.

“This reversing camera offer is just another example of Hino Australia’s commitment to truck safety,” he concluded.
