Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation and Hino Motors have announced ARCHION as the name of their new joint holding company.
This marks the next phase of the long-awaited business integration between Daimler Truck AG and Toyota Motor Corporation.
ARCHION is set to commence operations on 1 April 2026 following the final agreement signed in June this year.
The name ARCHION is reported to combine ‘arches’ – symbolising connection and collaboration – with ‘eons’ representing a lasting vision for the future of mobility.
The group’s guiding mission: ‘Delivering the future of commercial mobility’.
Under the new structure, ARCHION Corporation will serve as the holding company, overseeing both the Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino brands. It will be headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and led by Karl Deppen as CEO, Hetal Laligi as CFO, and Satoshi Ogiso as CTO.
The ARCHION Group plans to leverage the combined strengths of its parent companies through an integrated platform strategy, uniting development, procurement, production and logistics functions to drive cost efficiency, shorten lead times and boost product competitiveness.
Production will also be streamlined with five domestic truck plants consolidated into three by 2028.
Growth will be underpinned by significant investment in CASE technologies (Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric), with an emphasis on hydrogen fuel cell development, autonomous driving and connected mobility solutions.
“Today we take the next step to bring our shared vision to life,” said ARCHION Representative Director and CEO, Karl Deppen. “With ARCHION, we aim to deliver the future of commercial mobility for the benefit of our customers and all stakeholders.”
Pending approvals, Daimler Truck and Toyota each plan to hold a 25 per cent stake in ARCHION, which is targeting a listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market upon launch.
In other news, Hino Motors is about to release the Hino Profia Z FCV, Japan’s first mass-produced fuel cell heavy duty truck.
