Wabco has entered into an agreement with Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) to supply the truck manufacturer with what it claims is the industry’s lightest and highest performing single-piston air disc brakes.
MAXXUS air disc brakes are based on the company’s breakthrough MAXX™22 single-piston technology that the company pioneered in Europe. According to Wabco, MAXX22 brakes are the lightest and highest performing single-piston air disc brakes for trucks and buses. The design is said to reduce the vehicle’s overall weight, which boosts fuel efficiency and enables increased payload capacity.
“We are proud to supply Daimler Trucks North America with MAXXUS air disc brakes, a new game-changing generation of high performance, low weight braking technology that increases vehicle safety and efficiency,” said Nikhil Varty, Wabco president, Americas. “MAXXUS is yet another mark of Wabco’s technology leadership as we further demonstrate our commitment to North America’s commercial vehicle industry.”
Features of the MAXXUS air disc brake include:
• High part commonality with the successful and field proven European MAXX™22;
• Monoblock caliper fully compatible with US rims;
• Brake torque up to 23,000 Nm;
• Redundant sealing combined with stable metal caps protects the guiding system.
