The opening of a new depot in the suburb of Torrington sees Followmont Transport expand its footprint in a growing logistics zone, as Followmont grows into Toowoomba. The new site has been purpose built by the company on a site with plenty of room for expansion and overlooking the fast-growing Charlton freight precinct.
The depot is based on Rielly Street, Torrington. The 20,000 square metre site with 3,000 square metre warehouse and 300square metre office space is designed to accommodate the rapidly increasing freight profile for Followmont in the region. The location is only two minutes from the company’s previous site. According to Followmont, this new location will provide the Toowoomba depot with drivers sleeping quarters, on-site bulk fuel, wash bay, workshop pit and 20m wide awning for undercover loading.
“We’ve got this depot up to about 40 per cent, with 40 staff, but we can always extend, that’s how we always build a shed,” said Mark Tobin, Followmont CEO and Managing Director. “We have a motto, we build it once and we do it right.
“Our business at Followmont is all about people. We are not a transport company, we are actually a people business. We are not scared to lose margin for long term success. When you talk about a business, it’s all about how we go forward and all about growth.
“After what we have been living with for the last eighteen months, I think relationships, friendship and people is what is going to get us through.”
