Followmont Confirms New CEO

Queensland-based Followmont Transport has made an executive change, with current CEO Mark Tobin transitioning to the role of Managing Director and being replaced as CEO by current Chief Operating Officer Ross Longmire.

Tobin’s father, Bernie, co-founded Followmont Transport alongside Alan Salpietro, with Mark initially taking over as CEO of the company in 2013 before purchasing the company alongside brother Ben in 2016.

Ross has over 25 years of experience in the transport and logistics sector and is a current board member of the Queensland Trucking Association.

Mark says Ross was identified as his eventual successor as CEO some time ago.

“Ross is the ideal choice to lead Followmont. His steady, thoughtful approach and deep care for our people will ensure we remain a company that values family and quality in everything we do,” he says.

“I identified Ross for the CEO role and have been working alongside him and planning for this transition… this decision has been years in the making and something we have not taken lightly.”

Mark will continue to play a key role in the strategic direction and growth of Followmont Transport as Managing Director, with a scope that includes innovation, mergers and acquisitions, technology improvements and enhancement of the customer experience.

“Our customers and team members remain at the heart of everything we do, and I look forward to steering Followmont as we continue to go from strength to strength,” he says.

“Every decision I have made as CEO has been driven by my passion for our people and their growth. Our strength has always been in our team, and I am committed to nurturing that as we move forward together.”

Ross says he wants to maintain Followmont’s family-oriented culture and supportive environment as the new CEO.

“From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew this was an incredible workplace,” he says.

“The sense of community and genuine care here is unmatched, and I am committed to preserving and strengthening that as CEO. I want to focus on maintaining the supportive environment where employees care for one another and strive to succeed together.

“This sense of belonging is what makes Followmont a truly special place to work.”
