Transport Women Australia Limited has awarded the next round of its Driving the Difference Scholarships to emerging women within the transport industry.
The scholarships are sponsored by Daimler Truck Australia Pacific, supporting women who have undertaken a wide range of courses to continue their professional development in the industry.
The five winners of the scholarship are Nellie White and Cinamon Bohr from Albury/Wodonga, Ashleigh Anderson and Emma Manton (Brisbane) and Jo Tomaszewski (Sydney).
All of the women who won the awards work in different areas of the industry. Nellie works in transport operations with Hume Transport; Cinamon owns ‘Wheely Independent’, working as an occupational therapist helping drivers get back on the road. Ashleigh works in driver training, Emma works in transport insurance at MBM Insurance Solutons and Jo is an operations manager with Freighter, formally MaxiTRANS.
The successful candidates are set to be presented with their certificates at end of year functions in the city closest to them, with the five winners receiving assistance to complete chosen courses in their industry to expand their knowledge and experience.
TWAL says leaderships skills and careers are being enhanced by programs such as Driving the Difference, providing opportunities to undertake study that may otherwise be out of reach for people.
The recipients are also encouraged to participate in TWAL events to network and speak, further broadening their experience and exposure to leaders and mentors within the wider transport community.
“We encourage everyone who is eligible to apply for these scholarships in 2025 when they become available,” TWAL says.
