DD16 released for the first time

Detroit has announced the Brisbane Truck Show will see the much‐anticipated engine, the DD16 released for the first time. The most powerful on‐highway engine ever produced by Detroit, the DD16, which will soon be available to Australian customers.

The new 16 litre engine is expected to be fitted in the Freightliner Cascadia when it is released onto the Australian market in the next couple of years. To date Western Star has not announced whether any its range will be offered with the higher capacity engine from the Detroit engine manufacturer.

“From the Series 60, to the DD15, to the DD16, visitors to the Brisbane Truck Show will see the evolution of Detroit when they visit the Detroit stand,” said Sean McLean, General Manager On‐highway, Penske Power Systems.

“The DD16 has been built on the well‐proven reliability that Detroit products are known for, while providing additional horsepower for customers who want the extra pulling power.

“And, as with all Detroit products, the DD16 will be backed by our comprehensive national network of dealers along with a renowned warranty package that gives customers peace of mind.”

DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard will be at the Detroit stand from 12 noon on Saturday May 18 for a meet and greet with show attendees.
