The Australian Trucking Association and Daimler Truck Asia Pacific have announced the 10 new Daimler Truck Future Leaders for 2025.

The event is an award-winning leadership program aimed at giving promising young professionals added tools, knowledge and training they need to become strong and effective industry advocates.

Participants in this year’s Future Leaders’ Forum were selected by the ATA’s member associations and Daimler Truck Asia Pacific.

This year’s Future Leaders participants are:

  • Jo Tomaszewksi (Road Freight NSW)
  • Thomas Morton (Victorian Transport Association)
  • Drew Hipwood (Queensland Trucking Association)
  • James Upton (Tasmanian Transport Association)
  • Sam Jago (Northern Territory Road Transport Association)
  • Jonathon Sassella (NatRoad)
  • Harrison Gill (Australian Furniture Removers’ Association)
  • Sarah Woodruff (Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association)
  • Ainsleigh Thomas (Transport Women Australia Ltd)
  • Monique Robertson (Daimler Truck Asia Pacific)

The 2025 program will see the participants meet in Canberra for two days of intensive workshops followed by small group work to develop three industry advocacy projects.

These projects will then be presented at Trucking Australia 2025 in April.

ATA Chair Mark Parry says the Future Leaders’ Program is an important step in the continued progression of the transport industry.

“Our 2025 Future Leaders have a wide range of backgrounds, from drivers and mechanics to managers,” he says.

“Regardless of where they started, they will finish the program with the knowledge and skills they need to shape the industry’s future, including social media, advocacy and modern leadership.”

The Future Leaders’ Forum won the LearnX Platinum Award for Best Learning and Talent Development in the industry specific leadership development category in 2024.

“Our Future Leaders’ Forum is a career defining opportunity for the next generation of leaders, who I know will make sure the trucking industry remains strong,” Daimler Truck Asia Pacific President and CEO Daniel Whitehead says.

“I can’t wait to see the results of the projects that our 2025 leaders will undertake and then present in Adelaide.”
