When it comes to engines, Cummins is preaching a simple message.
Proper care and maintenance will significantly extend the life of a Cummins X15D engine.
This was the specific message conveyed by the engine manufacturer at the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) TMC 25, held in Melbourne.
Cummins Field Service Engineer Liam Heidrich highlighted important updates to its next-generation diesel platform.
His presentation and the ensuing discussion centred on how fleets can maximise performance, reduce downtime, and extend service intervals through proper care of the Cummins X15D engine.
“Enhanced component durability, improved filtration systems, and updated diagnostics aim to simplify routine maintenance while supporting the engine’s advanced powertrain capabilities,” Liam said.
“The Operation and Maintenance manual also details how to extend maintenance intervals based on duty cycle,” he said.
A major theme was how predictive maintenance and connected technologies will play a larger role in fleet operations.
During the session, Liam provided guidance on recommended inspection intervals, fluid and filter specifications, and best practices for maintaining peak performance under a range of duty cycles.
