This video showcases a rare and sought after Mack model – this one in particular is Champions’ Stunning Bicentennial, towing a single trailer.
Owned by Tony Champion, who is a passionate collector of Macks, this truck is only used as a show truck, not actually running any freight on the road.
Based in Rockhampton, his collection is well in advance of 50 models at this point, which all tend to make their way out to various truck shows across Queensland.
The Bicentennial Superliner is a unique model, produced by Mack in the 80s to celebrate Australia’s bicentennial anniversary from the landing of the First Fleet. It also happened to be their 25th anniversary in Australia.
“Twenty Limited Edition Super-Liners will carry the names of Great Australians remembered in 200 years of history; those who took the elements and in some cases the system, head on,” a brochure produced at the time read.
“The names on these etched brass plates have been chosen by the owners and will be permanently installed onto 20 special vehicles for 20 special men.”
They are a truly legendary truck, and for a Mack superfan like Tony to own one must be an extremely special feat.
