Growing national heavy haulage operation, Centurion, were trying to find a safe way to transport tyres and have come up with a innovative design for trailers to haul tyres out to mining machinery in the resources sector. This new system introduces the possibility of making the transport of these large tyres much more efficient and drastically reduce costs.
With an announcement from car maker SEAT and transport operation Grupo Sesé there is an Aussie-style A-double concept appearing in Europe. The truck runs on the roads of North West Spain transporting car components for the car maker SEAT.

It’s about time researchers started looking at fatigue in the real world. The whole subject has been one full of contention for a long time and some genuinely salient facts may help inform more rational debate. This is what the research at the Cooperative Research Centre for Alertness, Safety and Productivity is aimed at doing.

For many truck drivers it’s a great trucking life, but if you look at media reports about trucking, it definitely isn’t. Videos like this one from Linfox do a little to redress the balance. We as an industry should be doing more like this and get the message out there that trucking can be a great life.
Here’s a video about the outside-the-box thinkers who participated in an attempt to hack the fatigue challenge. The Fatigue Hack-a-thon was held in parallel to the Australian Trucking Association’s annual Truck Australia conference and saw a number of teams from four to eight strong coming into the event to attack the problem of fatigue from a fresh angle and come up with some alternatives to the many proposed solutions we have heard about in the past.
How simple a rule is it to understand? Do not overtake a turning vehicle should be a no brainer for car drivers but they still put everyone’s lives in danger by shooting either side of a turning truck. This short video show just two examples of what goes on everyday on the highway for most truckies.
