New members for TruckSafe
Another four operators have been announced as members for the TruckSafe accreditation program. TruckSafe says it is proud to welcome CBG Transport (NSW), Transedel (VIC), Simpsons Fuel (VIC) and Lillyvale Livestock Carriers (QLD) as its newest members.
CBG Transport is a local family owned Newcastle business running two trucks, with plans to add a third one in the coming months. Specialising in local liquor deliveries around Lake Macquarie, Director Chad Grintell said customers really valued the TruckSafe accreditation program.

It’s all about high productivity
The National Transport Commission has said productivity will become the main focus for its work over the next four years. A statement released outlined a range of projects designed to boost transport networks. It says it will seek to identify ways to deliver quicker and cheaper road, rail and intermodal networks, particularly for Australia’s freight and logistics industry. Maintenance COR is coming
Chain of responsibility laws are to be extended to truck maintenance, making trucking businesses and their executives legally accountable for heavy vehicle maintenance. This change is expected to be outlined in a Regulatory Impact Statement due out in the coming months from the Heavy Vehicle Roadworthiness project being carried out, jointly, by the National Transport Commission and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

NSW takes the next step
The slow and painful transition to a truly national regulatory framework from the current confusion of some state and some national rules took another small step forward this week. The NSW Government has removed the requirement for a permit for all trucks wanting to operate under HML, opening up to 98 per cent of the state owned road network to all HML vehicles.
The Declaration released by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) tells us transport operators no longer need permits to operate eligible vehicles on assessed and approved routes which include some regional and council owned roads.
