90 km/h Speed Limit

Truck speed limits and variable car speed limits are being introduced on the Monash Freeway in Melbourne. The Victorian Government is undertaking a trial in which speeds on the Monash Freeway will move up and down based on live traffic conditions. The Dynamic Speed Trial, which starts in early July, running between High Street in Ashburton and Glenferrie Road in Toorak, means car drivers, when it is safe to do so, will be able to increase their speed from 80 km/hour to 100km/hour on this section of the Monash.

Trade Skills Centre Opening

A new Trade Skills Centre has been opened in Glenala State High School, based in the Archerfield, Richlands, Wacol area where much of the trucking industry is based, to the West of Brisbane. The TSC is a federally funded initiative through the Trade Training Centres in Schools Project and will, with the help of the Heavy Vehicle Industry Association, be the venue for the delivery of the Certificate 2 in Automotive Vocational Preparation (heavy vehicle stream) and Certificate 2 in Logistics to Year 11 and 12 students from July 2016.
