The Queensland Government has tasked CPB Contractors, part of the CIMIC Group, with delivering the Gateway to Bruce upgrade.

It is a major infrastructure project designed to boost safety, capacity and resilience across one of the state’s busiest transport corridors.

The project will be delivered by the Gateway Connect Joint Venture, which brings together CPB Contractors, BMD and Georgiou. CPB Contractors holds a 40 per cent share of the $950 million contract.

According to ACS Group and HOCHTIEF CEO and CIMIC Group Executive Chairman, Juan Santamaría, the project represents another step forward in strengthening Queensland’s transport backbone.

“CPB Contractors continues to deliver complex infrastructure that supports community resilience,” he said.

“This upgrade will improve safety, reduce congestion and futureproof the corridor against climate and population pressures, delivering long-term value for Queenslanders.”

CPB Contractors Managing Director, Jason Spears, said the project will create opportunities for local workers and suppliers.

“Our team has a strong connection to the community, and we’re committed to generating training, employment and procurement benefits for local people and businesses,” said Spears.

“By integrating technology, innovation and smart engineering, we’ll minimise disruption during delivery and build sustainable outcomes for decades to come.”

Key features of the upgrade include:

  • Additional lanes on the Gateway Motorway.
  • Improved connections to Bracken Ridge Road and Deagon Deviation.
  • Upgrades to the Gateway Motorway curve at Bracken Ridge.
  • Replacement of the Wyampa Road overpass.
  • Staged improvements to the Gateway Motorway, Bruce Highway and Gympie Arterial Road interchange.
  • Shared active transport pathways.
  • Wildlife protection fencing and underpasses.

The Gateway to Bruce Upgrade forms part of Queensland’s long-term infrastructure strategy aimed at improving freight efficiency, travel safety and network resilience for the growing region.
