Allison Transmission is set to showcase to key truck operators, manufacturers and media its automatic transmissions installed in a range of medium and heavy-duty trucks.
The event will be held from April 15-21 at Queensland’s Mt Cotton Driver Training Centre, a 283 hectare (700 acre) facility with more than 7.6 kilometres (five miles) of undulating circuits and training roads.
Delegates will have the opportunity to sample a variety of Allison-equipped vehicles, both from behind the wheel and as passengers, in a wide range of operating conditions from tarmac circuits to dirt access tracks and even an off-road area.
With fully-automatic transmissions, gearshifts occur without any driver intervention, meaning both hands remain on the steering wheel and full concentration can be devoted to manoeuvring. Shifts are smooth and don’t interrupt power flow to the drive wheels. Additionally, the Allison torque converter multiplies engine torque at vehicle launch for optimised startability and performance in off-road conditions.
According to Lawrence Love, executive director of international marketing at Allison Transmission, the Australian Ride & Drive event will attract visitors from across Asia, India, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
“Our guests will have the unique opportunity to drive a wide array of commercial vehicles produced by European, American, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Australian manufacturers, each equipped with an Allison automatic transmission,” Love said.
“We’ll demonstrate how our company has established a reputation for superior quality, reliability and durability. By participating in this Ride & Drive, those serious about increasing productivity, maximising performance and improving profitability will be better equipped to make informed decisions about the right transmission technology for their demanding transport environments.”
