When Australia’s very own Top Gun, Matt Hall, speaks at the Technology and Maintenance Conference, it will mean there will be an air ace at the ACE for the TMC. Matt has been locked in as a keynote speaker at the Australian Trucking Association’s 2018 TMC, which takes place at the Automotive Centre for Excellence (ACE).

Matt is a Red Bull Air Racer and former RAAF fighter combat instructor, and he will join delegates to share his secrets on teamwork, success and how to get the most out of your workshop crew.

“Every trucking industry workshop has the need, the need for teamwork,” said Ben Maguire, ATA CEO. “Matt is the ideal person to talk about it. He’s a decorated veteran of F-15E Strike Eagle missions over Iraq and used to making split second decisions with his weapons systems officer and flight controllers.”

A major part of the TMC is the presentation of the Craig Roseneder Award, which recognises technical and maintenance excellence in the workshop by an individual. Now is the time make any nominations to the ATA for someone to be considered for the award.

The award is open to any individual who works full-time in the Australian trucking industry for a trucking company, supplier or commercial workshop as a workshop manager, mechanic or provide support within the maintenance field for heavy vehicles.

The winner receives a fully paid trip to Atlanta, Georgia, USA, to attend the US Technology and Maintenance Council’s 2019 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition including return airfares to the US, five nights premium conference accommodation and $1,500 spending money.

The TMC will also have a chance to meet the inspectors, where a panel of senior inspectors will share their priorities and what they are seeing on the road. The session is a once-a-year opportunity for delegates to provide feedback to transport inspectors from across Australia.

Another session on driving safety and performance with technology will cover the benefits of using driver monitoring technology and how this technology is being adopted by commercial fleets across the globe.

All the way from Hungary, BPW axle expert Mátyás Andrási will discuss how the latest generation of self-steer axles can provide outstanding solutions for improved vehicle swept path and better access, such as getting milk tankers into farms.
