Luke Taylor has shown a willingness to go above and beyond in his role with Kahler Transport, bringing him a nomination for the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland Young Person in Transport Award.
Luke is a Fleet Manager and driver for Kahler Transport, from Gowrie, after starting with the business as a fully qualified mechanic from Road Transport Specialists. Luke’s main roles including, driving and maintaining trucks and trailers. He maintains the Kahler fleet to a very high standard, including all cleaning, inside and out, servicing and repairs and has progressed, without incident, from driving a small body truck up to road trains.
Luke displays pride through not only himself but the truck that he drives, ensuring they are mechanically and aesthetically sound before starting a new work week. He also ensures the other
drivers take the same pride in their work and assists them cleaning their trucks and trailers alike.
Luke’s willingness to go above and beyond for his employer and the industry is exhibited through his commitment to learning and implementing efficient work practices, covering a broad spectrum of experiences through carting livestock, feed and heavy machinery, maintaining all trucks within and outside the fleet and being a reference point for others to approach when they have broken down or require mechanical knowledge.
Luke is known more commonly as Junior and from the age of five it was evident that he would be involved in the livestock industry as he was adamant on entering his pet calf into the Crows Nest Show.
His love for trucks and machinery was fostered by Steve and Snowy Kahler as Luke became a third-generation livestock transporter. Luke is a passionate and dedicated worker who is always wanting to improve himself and the company he works for.
Luke is dedicated to the welfare and health of the livestock he carts, which has shaped him into the operator he is. Luke prides himself on the connections he is able to form with those that he meets and is always up for a laugh. Luke is a down to earth thinker and always makes time for those around him.
